Turbo (2007) is a vivacious work for Tuba/Euphonium ensemble that features supreme technique in each of the six parts. The form is overall ABA, with various transitional segments throughout the work. The exuberant main theme is presented in several different voicings and alterations in the A sections. The middle section is a virtuosic round set in E-flat minor over a running bass line. The ever-changing tonal focus of the work is meant to emulate speeding through a constantly changing landscape.
Turbo was premiered in 2009 at the US Army Band Tuba and Euphonium Conference by the UNC Greensboro TubaBand, conducted by Dr. Dennis AsKew.
