Luis Antonio Calvo (1882-1945) was a Colombian composer and multi-instrumentalist, known for his many popular works for piano. Calvo's budding career as a military musician in Bogota was cut short after contracting leprosy. During his years in isolation at the Agua de Dios leprosarium in Cundinamarca, Cavlo dedicated himself to composition and wrote many works that combine elements of Romanticism with dance styles to create a unique Colombian style.
Lejano Azul "Lejano Azul" (far blue) is the subtitle for Calvo's Intermezzo no. 2 for piano. It has a beautiful, almost wistful melody that gets passed around in a few different settings.
