Fantasy for Quartet (2010) is an exciting new work for Trombone Quartet.
In this composition, I explore the use of the Phrygian and Phrygian Dominant mode to create an exotic atmosphere. I employ mixed meter (3+3+2+2) along with variations of the Phrygian scale and dance-line rhythms to evoke the impression of Spanish Flamenco style. Also referencing the Flamenco style is a transitional segment in the music in which the quartet puts down their trombones and claps in palmas style. Difficulty: Advanced (Collegiate/Professional) Instrumentation: Trombone Quartet (3 Tenor Tbs, 1 Bass Tb) Time: 6 minutes, 30 seconds MIDI Audio File (.mp3) Perusal Score (.pdf) |
