Alexander Borodin (1833 - 1887) is best known today as a composer, despite his occupation as a chemist and doctor. The "Polovetsian Dances" from his opera "Prince Igor" have become a part of standard orchestral repertoire.
This arrangement is composed of the introduction and first three dances (Gilding dance of the maidens, Wild dance of the men, and General dance). This arrangement was premiered by the UNC Greensboro TubaBand, conducted by Dr. Dennis AsKew at the 2011 Southeast Regional Tuba/Euphonium Conference in Chattanooga, Tennessee.
