Tango (2014) in B-flat minor is a rather risqué take on the Argentinian tango for Brass Quintet. I fell in love with the works of Ástor Piazzolla as an undergraduate in college, and attempted to evoke the sinuous and seductive quality that is present in so many of his works.
Tango is a tour-de-force that would be best suited for opening or closing concerts. The composition juxtaposes angular intense rhythmic sections with lyrical singing melodies. Tango is a showcase for all five members.
